Welcome to La Mojoteque, sharing free (of charge) music for every taste and mood. In partnership with Internet. I do not own any of it.

Kubbi - Transmittance

Let us dive inside the old school gaming music goodness and electronic vintage atmosphere of ancient sounds coming from... What ? Oh yeah the release, right.

Remember Kubbi ? We talked a little bit about this guy a while ago with his release "Sleet". Well this one is in fact older, but a hundred percent as good. This is good 8-bit music just like you'd have imagined it if you didn't know what it was like just before. Rampaging dinosaurs, pixellated explosions, lasers and cubic kittens. I've listened to this one four times in a row and I'm still not tired of it. Believe me, that is something.

Astrobear - Polar Eclipse

With no fake pun about the fact that it's chilly outside, let's have our daily dose of chillout music. Astrobear is very good at it, so we'll let him do the musical thing. Soothing chill with notes of downtempo, a musical elixir that will make you go in outer space orbiting Poland.

Also, chillout music is good for the bones, the blood cells and the brain. A chill a day keeps the doctor away, as we say in chill-land.

Ever noticed how it is calming to be calm ? You will soon.

News 1

Hello, just wanted to say that until further notice, Ochre's "A Midsummer Nice Dream" is no longer free but costs £5. You can still freely listen to the full album online though, and "Early Learning" is still free-priced.

If you notice an album shared here that is no longer free, please do notice me, that I may ask the artist if this is permanent, and hide the post while it is so.

I'm also receiving a lot of spam from stupid websites and bots. One of them wanted to become a partner and to write articles with me, while also directing me to creating an advantageous bank account. How nice. If this continues (it is calmer now) I may render it impossible for anonymous comments. That would be a shame because I know comments on Blogspot are not fast and easy. Well, we'll see.

Cheers to all of you, see you wednesday for some good chillout.

Ruby the Hatchet - Ouroboros

Yesterday night was a harrowing journey for me myself and I, musically speaking. I'm telling you, finding good free blues music on the Internet is something of hell if you ever tried it. It is hard for your fingers, clicking and clicking again ; and for your ears, violated with an unborn sound that is already part of the undead, without being born, that's something. So, yes, I admit I'm giving up blues for La Mojoteque, for now. But who knows ? Maybe a good-willed visitor who knows his way around the unknown arcanes of blues will come and share some good names with me, which I'll share with you afterwards. Let us wait and see.

While this stranger makes his way to this place, I will continue with a very good stoner rock release, "Ouroboros" from Ruby the Hatchet, a band from Philadelphia. Their music is a good blend (ever noticed how I keep using the expression "a good blend" ?) of these two genres, sometimes more greasy stoner without going as far as the ultimate distortion of the universe ; and sometimes more rock, with a hint of psychedelitude of which I never tire.

If you're not really convinced by the first song, I'll let you know that this release gets better by the second. Very good indeed (I'm listening to it for the third time in a row).

This is the 50th article of La Mojoteque, not counting all those I have deleted before. I will not say I did not think I could go so far, because that was the goal from the beginning, but still, this is something. Almost 700 pageviews on the French version and not far from 1200 visitors on this one. I even started receiving spam comments providing effecient solutions for my erectile dysfunctions and with very interesting bank account offers too. This is beautiful, I want to thank all those who make free music, and to celebrate this event, they should all create a super-duper ultra giga release with twenty-five supranatural tracks, that is free, of course. That is not much to ask I think.

I wish you a good listening in the meantime, but not a happy new year, because as we all know, we're just living through a single enormous year containing variations in temperature.

SMILETRON - MESSAGES

Well now, I know I said there would be more non-electronic music on the blog from now on, but I don't want it to be one way or another. There will be more, and less, and more and more, but for this one, less, I you see where I want to get around at.

I discovered this album yesterday. At first I thought it sounded like psybient, but then I realised it was blended with pretty groovy bouncy 8-bit sounds. So there was no other word for it than psybit.

Try it, lord it, share it.

Edit : In fact, after a few more listenings, this is more like chillbit. Enjoy anyway.

Re-Edit : Some of you may have noticed that this release is not free anymore on Bandcamp but is worth 7$. I contacted SMILETRON and he said this is due to bandcamp periodically running out of free downloads. He gave me the Soundcloud link to get the songs one by one, and also said that the download on Bandcamp will be free again soon. Here's the link.
